Only very wealthy woman wore necklaces. It shows what class you were. Since cut stones, such as diamonds, were unknown in the ancient worlds, uncut stones had great value. Carnelian is the most popular stone for necklaces in 1549B.C – 1298B.C. I think it is so neat how they carved the stones without the tools we have now.
