Model Boat
This model of an Egyptian funeral boat was made in 2066-1781 B.C. It is obvious that it is made of wood, gesso (plaster), and paint. It was used for afterlife for Egyptian people. This boat was to take deceased people to Abydos. The Egyptians believed that Abydos (a mythological land) was where Osiris, the god of the afterlife, resurrected from the dead. It was thought that coming in contact with Osiris would predict a good journey to the next world. A.K.A. IMPORTANT.
