Cynthia Ganoung comes to us with firsthand experience learning a second language. Beginning to learn Spanish in high school, she there found her passion for language. Being raised in a musical family, however, Ms. Ganoung decided to start her collegiate studies in music. After studying music at CSU, Stanislaus for the first half of her college career, Ms. Ganoung decided to return to her high school passion, and in 2007, graduated Magna Cum Laude, attaining a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish with a music minor. She continued in her education to earn her Single Subject Teaching Credential in Spanish, with a supplementary credential in music. With a love for travel, education and language, Cynthia has made the most of her international travel. Ms. Ganoung studied abroad for one winter term in Cuernavaca, Mexico, living with a host family. This way, she was able to both absorb Mexican culture and further the fluency of her second language. Ms. Ganoung has also journeyed to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with the CSUS Concert Chorale. A ten day choral tour allowed her to utilize her one semester class of beginning Portuguese, and gave her the opportunity to enjoy the beauty and culture of the lush Latin American country. Ms. Ganoung is happy to both educate the importance of language and share her passion of the subject with her students. |
