Kendis Camacho is our second grade teacher. She grew up in Southern California. Ms. Camacho attended California State University at Fullerton and Sonoma State University to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. She attended National University and Sonoma State University, while completing the teacher credential program. She also attended SSU in 2004 to acquire Special Education training. Ms. Camacho holds a California Clear Multiple Subject Credential, a Clear Cross-cultural, Language and Academic Development Certificate, and an Education Specialist Instruction Credential. She also holds a California Basic Catechist Certificate. She has attended workshops including Dyslexia Self Management Training for Teachers, Practical Strategies for Differentiating Your Classroom, Motivating the Unmotivated, and Art Integration from the Arts Council of Sonoma County.
Ms. Camacho’s interests are traveling, reading, and kayaking. Her favorite places traveled to are Europe, New York and Hawaii. Both her son and daughter attended SJS. She lives in Santa Rosa with her dog, Alfie.
Ms. Camacho had many life experiences before she became a teacher. She worked as a psychiatric nurse dealing with developmentally disabled clients. She also came to us with a background in business, having owned a salon, an antique business, and a day care/pre-school.
She has also co-authored an unpublished book, written with the help of her ex-husband and two children, on co-parenting after divorce. As a teacher, she sees the positive influence that successful co-parenting can create in the lives of her students.
