Leslie Leach is our technology teacher. She instructs grades K-8 in computer applications and has students create curricular projects. She was raised in San Diego and has lived in Sonoma County for 11 years. She graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. After college Mrs. Leach served as a Peace Corps Volunteer for two years in the education sector in the West African country of The Gambia. She learned to speak the Mandinka language while living and working with the local people in her village. Upon her return to the States, she enrolled in a Master’s program at National University in San Diego. She completed her Master’s Degree in Educational Technology the following year. She has also sponsored a young girl from her African village by providing funding for her to attend a trade/technical school. Mrs. Leach holds a California Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. She has attended school sponsored teacher in-services during the years she has been at St. John School, Spanish and Italian foreign language classes at SRJC, and a Photoshop class to help her work with images while working on the school yearbook.
Her out of school interests include traveling, reading, and walking. Her favorite thing to do is to take a mini vacation somewhere local. Her favorite places traveled to include a three-week return trip to The Gambia 7 years after her Peace Corps service to reconnect with her Gambian students and friends, Northern Italy because that is where her father’s family is from, Provence because southern France is gorgeous, and New York City because it’s so alive. Mrs. Leach lives in Cloverdale with her husband and two German Shepherd dogs.
