Marilyn Dey is our third grade teacher. She grew up in Sun Valley, California. Mrs. Dey’s undergraduate degree is from California State University at Northridge. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies. She continued her education and received her teaching credential, as well as completing the program for a Certificate in Technology Education. Mrs. Dey holds a California Life Multiple Subject Credential. She belongs to several professional organizations including Computer Using Educators and the International Society for Technology in Education. She is also a Master Catechist.
Her out of school interests include gardening and reading. Her favorite thing to do is to enjoy a weekend in the town of Mendocino or visit her grandchildren. Her favorite place traveled to was Alaska for her 25th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Dey lives in the county area between Sebastopol, Forestville, and Santa Rosa with her husband. She has three sons, two daughters-in-law, and is the proud grandmother of four. All three sons attended SJS. One son is a radio spectroscopist in charge of a lab, another, a former pilot in the USAF, a licensed flight instructor and a railroad conductor, while her youngest is a certified emergency dispatcher.
